What is the Coming-of-Age Ceremony?

The Coming-of-Age Ceremony is a traditional event in Japan that celebrates individuals who have turned 20 years old. On this day, the local community in Kurume City will celebrate the newly recognized adults, allowing them to gather with nostalgic friends and acquaintances to spend enjoyable time together.

January 11, 2026 (Sunday)
In Kurume City, the Coming-of-Age Ceremony and Gathering for Those Turned 20 will be held at the elementary or junior high school district.

Participants

Those born between April 2, 2005, and April 1, 2006, who are residents of Kurume City as of December 1, 2025, and have submitted their information to the Kurume City Hall.

Important Notes

• Invitations will be sent to individuals eligible to participate in the Coming-of-Age Ceremony.
• These invitations will be mailed in December 2025.
• Those wishing to attend should bring the invitation card with them on the day of the event.
• If you do not receive your invitation card by December 19, 2025, please contact the Lifelong Learning Promotion Division by telephone or fax for inquiries.
